The Department of Agriculture’s Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) continues to reinforce strategic development planning in Eastern Visayas through the conduct of the “I-PLAN Visayas RPCO VIII – C/PPMIU Assessment cum RAFIP Alignment Planning Workshop” held this May 19 to 22, 2026 in Tacloban City.
The four-day activity gathered representatives from the Regional Project Coordination Office (RPCO), Provincial Project Management and Implementing Units (PPMIUs), and other project stakeholders to assess implementation progress, align priorities, and strengthen coordination in support of the PRDP Scale-Up framework.
Anchored on the goal of enhancing investment planning and implementation efficiency, the workshop served as a venue for participants to review accomplishments, identify technical assistance needs, and harmonize provincial priorities with the Regional Agriculture and Fisheries Investment Framework Plan (RAFIP).
Among the key highlights of the workshop were discussions on PRDP Scale-Up directions, updated policies on I-PLAN, I-BUILD, and I-REAP components, as well as presentations on implementation status and action plans from participating provinces. Open forums and feedback sessions also encouraged collaborative problem-solving and knowledge sharing among stakeholders.
A dedicated session on SIDLAN LGU Module Encoding and Verification further strengthened the capacities of local government units in data management and monitoring processes, emphasizing the importance of accurate and reliable information in project planning and implementation.
The workshop also focused on aligning provincial investment priorities with RAFIP through structured planning exercises and presentation of outputs. These activities aimed to ensure that future interventions remain responsive to the needs of farming and fishing communities while maximizing the impact of PRDP-supported initiatives across the region.
By fostering collaboration, accountability, and strategic alignment, the activity reaffirmed PRDP Scale-Up’s commitment to empowering local government units and improving rural development planning in Eastern Visayas. Through strengthened coordination and shared direction, the project continues to pave the way for more responsive, inclusive, and sustainable agricultural and fisheries development initiatives in the region.
