Under the gaze of agricultural companies, representatives from DA RFO 8, the Municipal Agriculture Office, and Farmer Cooperators, crop cutting for Rice Derby 2025 Season 4 has been set in motion at Hinunangan, Leyte, on September 16, 2025.
After 4 long months of shedding sweat, in wide smiles, farmer-cooperators are now excited to harvest the fruit of their labor. When asked about the estimated yield, Domingo Favula, Farmer-Cooperator, noted, “Ngayon aabot ng 70-80 cavan yan. Maganda ang anihan dito ngayon. Nandiyan yung mga technician kasi.”
[This time, I am expecting 70-80 sacks of palay. Rice yield is prolific today, primarily because technicians have guided us.]
Prior to Rice Derby, Favula’s rice farm would normally harvest 60 sacks of palay. With the yield estimates he has provided, that would mean a 10-20 sack increase in yield.
This undertaking—yield data gathering—principally aims to determine the yield or performance of each agricultural company.
To reiterate, Rice Derby 2025 Season 4 in Hinunangan, Southern Leyte, covers a total area of 154.56 hectares, making it the largest ever held in Region 8.
The total yield for the total area of the demo site is yet to be determined.
