To further strengthen the collaboration between the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Jaro, Leyte and the Department of Agriculture-Regional Field Office 8 (DA RFO8), the Regional Crop Protection Center conducted training on Integrated Pest Management (IPM) on Banana.
This initiative will enhance technical knowledge and promote sustainable farming to ultimately increase banana yields, secure the supply, strengthen farmers’ ability to withstand pest outbreaks and climate challenges.
The training was attended by banana farmers coming from the different barangays of Jaro.
The training featured lectures on Natural Enemies of Banana Insect Pests (Biological Control Agents); Banana Insect Pests; Bugtok and Moko Diseases: Management Recommendations; Fusarium Wilt (Panama Diseases) Management Strategies, Uses and Benefits of Trichoderma harzianum; and Sigatoka and Bunchy Top Virus Management Recommendations and Identifying Banana Anthracnose and Nematodes and their management.
Said training successfully ended with testimonials coming from two participants namely Mr. Joseph Cabaquit and Ms Jeraldine Borja who expressed their gratitude to the organizers and RCPC team for the opportunity and knowledge embarked.
