The DA RFO 8 conducted a Regional Variety Planning Pre-Workshop focusing on rice variety recommendations for the RCEF Seed Program and the DA National Rice Program, in Tacloban City on January 19, 2026.

The Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office 8 (DA RFO8) has once again proven its dedication to quality service by successfully maintaining its 𝗜𝗦𝗢 𝟵𝟬𝟬𝟭:𝟮𝟬𝟭𝟱 certification.

A four-day training workshop titled “From Backyard to Barangay: Scaling Up Urban Agriculture” was successfully conducted at the Tacloban National Agricultural School (TNAS), Tacloban City, through the collaboration of the Tacloban City Agriculturist Office and the DA RFO-8 under the NUPAP.

In a strong show of commitment to security through food affordability, the DA RFO8, together with the NFA and in partnership with the Provincial Government of Eastern Samar, launched the Benteng Bigas Meron Na sa Este last December 15, 2025, at the Provincial Capitol Gym, Borongan City, Eastern Samar.

The Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office VIII (DA RFO 8) officially rolled out the “Benteng Bigas Meron Na” program in La Paz, Leyte, on December 12, 2025, marking another milestone in the government’s efforts to ensure affordable rice for the public.

Christmas came early for some farmers and fisherfolk in Leyte as the DA RFO8, in collaboration with the BFAR RO8, DSWD FO VIII, and the local government of Palo, jointly distributed over P7 million worth of agri-fishery interventions during the 𝘗𝘢𝘴𝘬𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘉𝘢𝘺𝘣𝘢𝘺𝘪𝘯: 𝘚𝘢𝘭𝘶-𝘴𝘢𝘭𝘰 𝘒𝘢𝘴𝘢𝘮𝘢 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘨𝘢 𝘔𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘪𝘴𝘥𝘢 𝘢𝘵 𝘏𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘰𝘨 𝘗𝘢𝘴𝘢𝘴𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘵 𝘴𝘢 𝘮𝘨𝘢 𝘔𝘢𝘨𝘴𝘢𝘴𝘢𝘬𝘢, held at Brgy. Tacuranga, Palo, Leyte.

The Department of Agriculture RFO 8 has turned over Php 1,111,022.26 to the Farmers Association of Cutay, marking a crucial leap in boosting the local production of quality cacao planting materials under the Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Plan (CFIDP).
