In its commitment to supporting the livelihoods of countryside heroes, the Department of Agriculture RFO 8 implemented the Presidential Assistance for Farmers and Fisherfolks Program (PAFFP) for eligible rice farmers in Basey, Samar.

A total of 3,489 farmers received the unconditional cash aid during the two-day distribution at the Municipal Gymnasium. This assistance aims to provide immediate relief from the challenges brought by the continuous rise in fuel prices nationwide.

[This is a big help to defray some of our expenses in the farm, including small repairs needed for our machineries. We are very grateful to receive this.]

Jadloc also shared how the rapid increase in fuel affected their farm operations which limits them in using their machineries. β€œπ‘€π‘Žπ‘˜π‘’π‘Ÿπ‘– π‘šπ‘Žβ„Žπ‘Žπ‘™ π‘šπ‘Žπ‘› π‘Žπ‘› π‘”π‘Žπ‘ π‘œπ‘™π‘–π‘›π‘Ž. π·π‘Žπ‘˜π‘œ π‘›π‘”π‘Ž π‘˜π‘Žπ‘€π‘Žπ‘™π‘Žπ‘› β„Žπ‘Ž π‘Žπ‘šπ‘œπ‘› π‘›π‘Ž π‘šπ‘”π‘Ž π‘π‘Žπ‘Ÿπ‘Žπ‘”-π‘’π‘šπ‘Ž,” he said.

[It’s hard because the gasoline is expensive, increasing our losses.]

[It was hard before that we were not able to receive assistance especially while our children were still studying. We survived through our own efforts. When my husband died, that is when I was able to register with the RSBSA and received cash assistance.]

Validation and verification were also conducted during the distribution of the cash aid to ensure that the most qualified beneficiaries receive the assistance.
