Over 13,000 farmers and fisherfolk across Eastern Visayas received Php 2,325 financial assistance under the Presidential Assistance for Farmers and Fisherfolk Program (PAFFP), following the release of over โ‚ฑ30 million in cash aid from June 8 to June 11, 2026 in various municipalities across the region.

The distribution covered the municipalities of La Paz, MacArthur, Julita, Dagami, Burauen, Isabel, Palompon, Merida, Kananga in the Province of Leyte and Mapanas, Palapag, Gamay, and Lapinig of Northern Samar, reaching thousands of beneficiaries whose livelihoods continue to be affected by rising costs and economic pressures in the agriculture and fisheries sectors.

Eligible beneficiaries are farmers and fisherfolk registered under Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA) who are actively farming or fishing amidst the oil crisis due to the geopolitical tension in the Middle East.

For many recipients, the assistance provided immediate relief for household and daily needs. Eva Torla, 70, expressed her gratitude, saying,

[This assistance they provided will be a great help to us farmers, especially amid the crisis we are currently experiencing. It will help us buy household necessities and our maintenance medicines as a married couple now living alone at home.]
