Over 13,000 farmers and fisherfolk across Eastern Visayas received Php 2,325 financial assistance under the Presidential Assistance for Farmers and Fisherfolk Program (PAFFP), following the release of over ₱30 million in cash aid from June 8 to June 11, 2026 in various municipalities across the region.

The distribution covered the municipalities of La Paz, MacArthur, Julita, Dagami, Burauen, Isabel, Palompon, Merida, Kananga in the Province of Leyte and Mapanas, Palapag, Gamay, and Lapinig of Northern Samar, reaching thousands of beneficiaries whose livelihoods continue to be affected by rising costs and economic pressures in the agriculture and fisheries sectors.

Eligible beneficiaries are farmers and fisherfolk registered under Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA) who are actively farming or fishing amidst the oil crisis due to the geopolitical tension in the Middle East.

For many recipients, the assistance provided immediate relief for household and daily needs. Eva Torla, 70, expressed her gratitude, saying, “𝘐𝘯𝘪 𝘯𝘨𝘢 𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘩𝘢𝘵𝘢𝘨 𝘯𝘪𝘳𝘢 𝘯𝘨𝘢 𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦, 𝘥𝘢𝘥𝘢𝘬𝘰 𝘪𝘯𝘪 𝘢𝘯 𝘮𝘢𝘪𝘩𝘢𝘩𝘢𝘵𝘢𝘨 𝘯𝘨𝘢 𝘣𝘶𝘭𝘪𝘨 𝘩𝘢 𝘢𝘮𝘰𝘯 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘨-𝘶𝘮𝘢 𝘭𝘢𝘣-𝘦 𝘯𝘢 𝘨𝘶𝘥 𝘴𝘢 𝘬𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘴 𝘺𝘢𝘯𝘢 𝘯𝘨𝘢 𝘢𝘮𝘰𝘯 𝘨𝘪𝘯-𝘢𝘢𝘨𝘪𝘢𝘯. [This assistance they provided will be a great help to us farmers, especially amid the crisis we are currently experiencing. It will help us buy household necessities and our maintenance medicines as a married couple now living alone at home.]

Another beneficiary, Alita Galoy, shared that the aid would directly support their basic needs, stating, “𝘔𝘢𝘬𝘢𝘬𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘵 𝘯𝘢 𝘬𝘢𝘮𝘪 𝘩𝘪𝘯 𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘢 𝘯𝘨𝘢𝘯 𝘮𝘨𝘢 𝘢𝘥𝘭𝘢𝘸-𝘢𝘥𝘭𝘢𝘸 𝘯𝘨𝘢 𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘭𝘢𝘯 𝘴𝘶𝘨𝘢𝘥 𝘩𝘪𝘯 𝘱𝘢𝘨𝘬𝘢𝘰𝘯.”

The rollout underscores the government’s continued effort to extend timely support to farming and fishing communities, strengthening their capacity to cope with economic challenges while sustaining local food production.
