The Municipality of Kananga celebrated its two-day Agri-Fair 2026, highlighted by the official launch of the Kadiwa ng Pangulo program, a flagship initiative aimed at providing farmers with direct market access while ensuring consumers have access to affordable and quality agricultural products, held on June 16, 2026.

Conducted at the New Municipal Hall and Agri-Fair Area in Barangay Libongao, the event gathered farmers, local producers, agricultural stakeholders, government agencies, and residents in a celebration of the municipality’s vibrant agricultural sector and its contributions to local economic development.

The Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office 8 (DA RFO Regional Executive Director Rodel G. Macapañas lauded the local government for placing agriculture at the center of its development agenda, emphasizing the indispensable role of farmers in nation-building.

“𝘞𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘢𝘨𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘴𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘰𝘳 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘪𝘥𝘴𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘦𝘧𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘴 𝘵𝘰𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘴 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴. 𝘐 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘨𝘯𝘪𝘻𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘓𝘰𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘎𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘜𝘯𝘪𝘵 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘨𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘥𝘶𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘨𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘰 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘧𝘢𝘳𝘮𝘦𝘳𝘴,” Director Macapañas said during the opening program.

A major highlight of the celebration was the launch of the Kananga Kadiwa ng Pangulo, which seeks to shorten the supply chain by enabling farmers to sell their produce directly to consumers. Through the program, local growers and producers are provided with a stable marketing platform, while households gain access to fresh agricultural commodities at fair and competitive prices.

The agri-fair also featured exhibits showcasing the municipality’s agricultural products, including fruits, vegetables, livestock, poultry, and other locally produced goods. The displays underscored Kananga’s growing role in supporting food production and agricultural enterprise in Leyte.

The launch of Kadiwa ng Pangulo in Kananga forms part of the national government’s broader efforts to strengthen food security, enhance farmer incomes, and build resilient local food systems by connecting producers directly with consumers.

As the municipality continues its push toward inclusive growth and rural development, the Agri-Fair 2026 stands as a testament to Kananga’s commitment to recognizing the contributions of its farmers and ensuring that agriculture remains a cornerstone of progress.
