The Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP), through its I-REAP Component, convened key personnel and stakeholders for a three-day Harmonization Workshop on August 3-5, 2026, aimed at aligning enterprise development approaches, tools, and processes with the regular operations of the Department of Agriculture’s Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD).

The activity served as a significant step toward institutionalizing the enterprise development methodologies developed under PRDP by ensuring that these can be seamlessly integrated into AMAD’s existing systems and sustained beyond the life of the Project. The opening program underscored the importance of strengthening collaboration to sustain gains in enterprise development.

Central to the workshop was the concept of harmonization, defined as the alignment of approaches, tools, processes, and partnerships to ensure that enterprise development continues consistently under AMAD’s regular operations. Participants discussed how integrating PRDP’s enterprise development tools with AMAD’s market development services would establish a unified framework anchored on shared tools, common processes, joint planning, and unified monitoring. Ultimately, these efforts are expected to contribute to more competitive enterprises, improved market access, and increased income for farmers and fisherfolk.

Building on the outputs of the previous July 20-21, 2026, workshop, participants revisited and validated existing enterprise development tools through a series of technical workshops. The first workshop focused on assessing each tool’s purpose, effectiveness, strengths, and areas for improvement. Participants identified which components should be retained, revised, simplified, or enhanced while developing practical recommendations to ensure the tools remain responsive to the operational needs of AMAD. The session concluded with presentations highlighting the proposed improvements and integration strategies.

The second workshop centered on the preparation of a Tool Integration and Mainstreaming Action Report. Participants consolidated the validated assessment results into a comprehensive report that documented harmonization decisions across business processes, justified proposed modifications, and outlined an implementation roadmap toward institutionalization. Emphasis was placed on producing a clear, evidence-based report that would guide the sustained adoption of harmonized enterprise development practices within the Department.

The harmonization initiative reflects PRDP’s sustained commitment to ensuring that successful project innovations are embedded within the Department of Agriculture’s regular programs and services. By strengthening the synergy between PRDP I-REAP and AMAD, the workshop lays the groundwork for a more integrated enterprise development framework that will continue to support agribusiness development, improve market opportunities, and create lasting economic benefits for farmers and fisherfolk across the country.
