The Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office VIII participated in the kick-off ceremony of the Agri-Aqua Fair, held on June 24, 2026, at the Capitol Tree Park, Maasin City, Southern Leyte. Organized by the Provincial Government of Southern Leyte through the Provincial Agricultural Services Office (PAgSO), the agri-fair showcased modern agricultural technologies, research innovations, and best practices that enhance productivity and promote resilience in the agriculture sector.
OIC-RTD Dr. Leonarda A. Londina, representing RED Rodel G. Macapañas, delivered a keynote message during the opening ceremony. Her message centered on resilience and recovery, food security and self-sufficiency, climate-smart agriculture, and farmers’ empowerment.
Dir. Londina also emphasized that the department has allocated a total of P1.3 billion for the Province of Southern Leyte in the implementation of various agricultural programs and interventions this year.
“Padayon, mga parag-uma ug mangingisda! Together, we rebuild our sector, strengthen our harvests, and secure food for every family in Southern Leyte,” Dir. Londina enthused.
Aside from the opening of the agri-aqua trade fair, the participating municipalities competed for the best booth and best agri-icon, showcasing the craftsmanship and creativity of the local agriculture offices.
As part of the province’s 66th founding anniversary, the agri-aqua trade fair will run until July 1, 2026, offering consumers and visitors the opportunity to patronize local produce and learn about advancements in the agriculture and fishery sector.
