Some municipal and provincial Agriculture and Biosystem Engineers in Eastern Samar are now equipped in navigating the Registration of Agriculture and Fisheries Machinery and Equipment System (RAFMES) which will help in the inventory and monitoring of existing farm machineries whether privately owned or government provided.

Madonna Urmaneta, OIC Municipal Agriculturist of Salcedo, Eastern Samar expressed.

[We are thankful because we were refreshed through this retooling. We weill have an updated list and database on the existing and functional machineries in our LGU- in all the barangays. This will help in the decision-making of our Mayor.]

Said training was conducted by some Regional Agriculture Engineering Division staff of DA RFO 8 who based the activity from the DA-DILG Joint Memorandum Circular 2018-02 which outlines the National Guidelines for the Registration of Agriculture and Fisheries Machinery and Equipment. This includes the mandatory registration of A&F machineries in all LGU Municipal Agriculture Offices.

After the walk through of the RAFMES, the participants were encouraged to have a first-hand experience of navigating the system through a hands-on training.

[It is not difficult to navigate the system. It is easy. For me, there is no problem since we have internet connection in our office and our staff are computer literate.]

She proudly added that the Local Government Unit of Salcedo, Eastern Samar has initially crafted an ordinance in the adaption of RAFMES. [After this training, since my colleagues have already been trained also, we can already start. We are ready.]

The DA-RAED 8 has previously conducted the same training in Leyte and Southern Leyte. This will continue until all provinces will be covered and is expected to be applied in their respective LGUs.
