Some key personnel of the Department of Agriculture RFO8 and Provincial Local Government Units gathered in a training seminar initiated by the Adaptation and Mitigation Initiative in Agriculture (AMIA) Program finalize the Climate Risk Vulnerability Assessment (CRVA) Map of the region.
Through the help of consultants from the KEA-MCS, who conducted a survey with various stakeholders throughout the region in order to come up with updated CRVA maps eight updated hazard maps were presented during the said training. These includes the flooding, tropical cyclone, erosion, landslide, drought, storm surge, sea rise level, and salt water intrusion hazard maps.
Ms Ferlynn V. BasaΓ±ez, AMIA Program Focal, encouraged the participants to share their thoughts and experiences during their monitoring of agricultural activities in the various municipalities. βπ΄ππ ππ π’π βπππ π€πππ ππππ‘ππππ’π‘π ππ¦ πππ£πππ π‘βππ πππππ , ππ¦ πππ£πππ π‘βππ ππ’π π£ππππππ‘πππ ππ ππππ‘πππ ππ’πππππππππ‘πππ . πππ’π ππ₯ππππππππ πππ πππππππππ‘πππ¦ π€πππ πππππ‘ππ¦ ππππ‘ππππ’π‘π π‘π π‘βπ πππππ πΆπ ππ΄ πππ,β she explained.
The activity served as a platform for the participants to enhance their understanding on CRVA Maps and improve their capacity to interpret and apply these in their activities. There were two batches who attended the said training in which, the morning session was attended by DA RFO 8 staff and representatives from the PLGUs of Biliran and Leyte participated in the afternoon.

It can be recalled that the last time the CRVA Map of DA RFO 8 was updated in 2019. With numerous calamities affecting the region throughout the years, modifications of the maps were necessary to help pattern climate resilient interventions.
