With 13 grade school contestants vying to clinch victory, the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office 8 conducted an On-the-Spot Poster Making Contest in Tacloban City on September 17, 2025.

Anchored on the theme, “Together, Let’s Nurture the Young Hands that will Feed the World Tomorrow,” participants stretched their imaginative minds and squeezed their creative juices to conceptualize and put into a reality an evocative artwork.

Contestants were given 3 hours and 30 minutes to complete their posters.

In the said clash of artistic prowess, Athena Marvienne Alidro from Baybay City Division emerged victorious, earning the Best Poster distinction. Nicole Amber B. Romano from Catbalogan City Division placed next, bagging the Second-Best Poster award. Meanwhile, Princess Nicole Ducay from the Tacloban City Division obtained the Third-Best Poster award.

The top three winners received cash prizes, but only the Best Poster awardee earned the honor of representing Eastern Visayas to the National On-the-Spot Poster Making Contest on October 15, 2025.

The contest, was open to Grade 5-6 elementary students enrolled in any public and DepEd-accredited private schools across the region and is held in consonance with the Celebration of World Food Day 2025 with the theme “Hand in Hand for Better Foods and a Better Future”.
