In a sustained effort to foster enabling environment where local farmers and fisherfolk can access broader markets and secure stronger investment opportunities, the Department of Agriculture Regional Field office 8 (DA RFO8), spearheaded by its Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD), held its Agribusiness Support for Promotion and Investment to Regional Exposition (ASPIRE) from December 8-10 in Tacloban, City.

This initiative reinforces DA’s commitment to uplifting rural livelihoods by strengthening market linkages and enhancing the competitiveness of agricultural enterprises. ASPIRE operates in collaboration with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), forming a multi-sectoral partnership dedicated to expanding the reach of local products and empowering producers to participate more actively in value chain development. The initiative provides a vital platform for showcasing commodities in regional expositions and trade fairs, enabling direct engagement with buyers, processors, and institutional markets.

Aligned with the Department of Agriculture’s market-driven development strategy, ASPIRE integrates business support services that elevate the quality and market readiness of agricultural products. These services include business planning, packaging and labeling enhancement, and the promotion of climate-smart technologies—capacities essential for small-scale producers seeking to meet evolving market standards.

The program also highlights investment promotion as a key pillar of agribusiness growth. By disseminating information on viable agribusiness ventures and facilitating investor engagement, ASPIRE helps stimulate private sector participation in value chain upgrading. Strong linkages with financial institutions such as the Land Bank of the Philippines and the Development Bank of the Philippines provide additional avenues for producers to access capital and scale their enterprises.

Complementing these efforts are capacity-building activities such as the Farm Business School (FBS), which equip farmers with essential entrepreneurial and farm management skills. Through such initiatives, ASPIRE nurtures a stronger business mindset in rural communities and supports long-term sustainability in the agricultural sector.

More than a market promotion platform, ASPIRE is a catalyst for rural transformation—cultivating a dynamic agribusiness ecosystem where innovation, investment, and partnership converge. Its alignment with PRDP’s value-chain development approach further strengthens the government’s push toward inclusive, resilient, and market-responsive agricultural growth.

By advancing opportunities for local producers and enhancing the competitiveness of regional agribusiness, ASPIRE continues to contribute meaningfully to the DA’s mission of ensuring food security, improving rural incomes, and building vibrant agricultural communities across the country – 𝘔𝑢𝘯𝑡𝘪𝑛𝘨 𝘺𝑎𝘱𝑎𝘬 𝘱𝑎𝘵𝑢𝘯𝑔𝘰 𝘴𝑎 𝑖𝘴𝑎𝘯𝑔 𝑀𝘢𝑠𝘢𝑔𝘢𝑛𝘢𝑛𝘨 𝘉𝑎𝘨𝑜𝘯𝑔 𝑃𝘪𝑙𝘪𝑝𝘪𝑛𝘢𝑠.
