The Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) Regional Project Coordination Office VIII (RPCO VIII) successfully held the Regional Project Advisory Board (RPAB) deliberation for three major infrastructure subprojects, all of which garnered favorable endorsement for elevation to the National Project Coordination Office (NPCO) for further processing and approval.
The projects presented during the RPAB deliberation were the Matalom Barangay Water System Development Project in Matalom, Leyte, the Construction of Bobon Potable Water System Level II in Bobon, Northern Samar, and the Construction/Rehabilitation of the Camparanga–Manahaw–San Ramon–Canjumadal (CAMASACA) Farm-to-Market Road in Pambujan, Northern Samar. With a combined investment value of approximately Php 666.07 million, the three subprojects are poised to deliver substantial socio-economic benefits to rural communities across Eastern Visayas.
During the deliberation, proponents and technical teams presented the projects’ technical, financial, economic, social, and environmental merits before members of the RPAB. After a thorough review and evaluation, the Board affirmed the viability and readiness of the proposed investments, resulting in their successful passage at the regional level.
Among the approved projects is the Matalom Barangay Water System Development Project, a Level II potable water system that will serve eleven barangays and benefit approximately 8,840 residents and 2,213 households in the municipality of Matalom, Leyte. The project, valued at Php 139.90 million, is designed to improve access to safe and reliable water services through the installation of reservoirs, filtration facilities, pipelines, and communal tap stands.
Also endorsed was the Construction of Bobon Potable Water System Level II, a Php 209.89-million investment that will provide improved water access to fourteen barangays in Bobon, Northern Samar. Once implemented, the project is expected to benefit more than 13,600 residents and contribute to improved public health and community welfare through the provision of a sustainable potable water system.
Completing the list of endorsed subprojects is the Php 316.29-million CAMASACA Farm-to-Market Road Project in Pambujan, Northern Samar. The 10.343-kilometer road will enhance connectivity among agricultural communities and facilitate the efficient transport of farm produce from nearly 3,972 hectares of agricultural lands, benefiting over 13,700 residents, including farmers and fisherfolk within the road influence area.
The successful endorsement of these subprojects demonstrates the continuing commitment of PRDP Eastern Visayas and its partner local government units to advancing strategic rural infrastructure investments that promote agricultural development, improve access to basic services, and stimulate inclusive economic growth.
Following the RPAB’s favorable recommendation, the three subprojects will be endorsed to the PRDP National Project Coordination Office (NPCO) for further review and consideration under the PRDP Scale-Up Program, bringing the proposed investments one step closer to implementation and eventual delivery of benefits to thousands of households in the region.
